Why Gazelle?
Gazelle is one of the most popular celebrities in Zootopia, having many fans, which include Judy Hopps, Clawhauser, and even Chief Bogo. Her importance and popularity stems from the fact that she is very socially-minded and believes in acceptance and equality for all.
I wanted to do something simple and fun for Colossalcon while I was a judge for the masquerade. Zootopia was such an important movie with its message of acceptance and the end sequence of Gazelle's concert was an absolutely fabulous moment.

How It Was Made
The fabric for this look was one that I spent three weeks trying to hunt down. I ended up finding the perfect pink sparkle blend from a fabric shop in NYC. I took a pre-existing bodice pattern and altered it into her short crop top. I trimmed the edging in a hot pink bias tape, that I then embellished with pink Swarovski crystal for an extra pop.
The fringe and tassels on the skirt were a big surprise. While I found a pink fringe that I thought was perfect, when I got it home, it was off by almost three shades. So I ended up running them through a dye bath to make them match the rest of the dress. Using some embroidery floss, I was able to make beautiful, matching tassels from scratch.
