Red
Performance Dress from Transistor
Why Red?
Transistor is a stunning and very unique indy game from Supergiant studios. Red, a famous singer in a city called Cloudbank, is attacked by the Process, a robotic force commanded by a group called the Camerata. She manages to escape and comes into possession of the mysterious Transistor—the great sword-like weapon she was to be assassinated with. This dress was her opening look from the game.

How It Was Made
This dress was made in three days. I knew I wanted to make something from this game, and I thought her dress from the beginning of the game was the best option. I made a quick mock up to try and understand the structure of her dress, especially 'petals" on the skirt.
Due to my time constraints, I had to work with what I had available. The gold fabric I had on hand was the perfect shade for her, but far too lightweight. So, I opted to take a heavier and slightly lighter colored yellow to act not only as the lining, but also as something to build weight to the fabric. This mention worked perfectly, helping to create an absolutely perfect drape for her train.
The feathers were built up into a collar with a felt base. This added texture allowed for a solid base to be able to adhere them and build that insane face frame. And honestly, it is my favorite part of the outfit.
