Widowmaker
Noire Skin from Overwatch
Why Widowmaker?
Overwatch is notorious for creating skins for its characters that have over the top elements that are almost impossible to recreate in real life. While I loved playing Widowmaker, none of her designs stuck out to me as ones that I would be comfortable wearing. Until I remembered the Noire skin. This was unique take on having the cable hair and the belting with the corset. And besides: Who doesn't love a challenge?
First Debuted: MagFest 2017
How It Was Made
Everything on this look were custom made patterns. I drafted each piece through multiple mock ups and adjustments before moving into the actual fabrics. A stretch pleather was used for the top and pants, while faux matte leather for her corset and belts. Her gauntlet is made with a worbla base with craftfoam detailing to create the space for the hookshot. The same materials were also used for the spikes up the arm and the shoulder piece.
The headpiece was a challenge. My boyfriend and I collaborated on this as a commissioner I had asked to make this for me flaked out on me and then sent me the wrong and completely incorrect headpiece. He pulled the model of her from the game and flattened out her headpiece into a workable pattern. We then both worked to accomplish the build of this in about six hours. The cording is insulation for pipes that I built into the tendrils down the back. They were on a separate worbla helmet that would be placed on and the helm then added after.
