Sabine Wren

Season 1 from Star Wars Rebels

Why Sabine?

Sabine Wren was a human female Mandalorian warrior and revolutionary leader during the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Her artistry during the rebellion inspired the symbol of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and her claim over the ancient Mandalorian weapon known as the Darksaber made her a symbol to Clan Wren and the hopes of freeing her people's homeworld of Mandalore from the rule of the Empire.

Watching the first episode of Rebels, I knew Sabine was going to be my first costume. She was actually my first ever Star Wars costume, which I am still very proud of. She was a fighter, but also an artist, which is the best of both worlds in my opinion. Not to mention, her sass is everything.

How It Was Made

The main focal point of Sabine, just like any Mandalorian, is her armor. I created the patterning then crafted the armor from Worbla. After sanding and smoothing, I took to hand-painting the detail to her armor. There was a lot of wear and tear in her paint job, but doing the the weathering was a lot of fun.

The base of her outfit is rather simple. all way stretch for the top that I custom patterned. The same basic idea for the pants: custom pattern and then made from a stretch twill.

The boots I purchased then got to splattered with the paint. Honestly, it was the most entertaining part of this build.
