Jedi Umi
from The Star Wars Universe
Why Umi?
As part of joining the charity group Saber Guild, an individual has to create an original jedi or sith character to portray within the group. This opened a lot of creative options when creating a character. For me, my jedi was a fun and colorful piece. Umi, in Japanese, means ocean. So I wanted to give her a palette of rich blues white having a deep brown to off-set the brightness.

How It Was Made
Within Saber Guild, we have strict guidelines for material choices. Linen and linen-look materials are the main elements of this look. I drafted this particular style of tunic for my jedi because I adore a good high low skirting. And from a fighting standpoint, it adds more movement.
The undertunic is actually faked for mobility and cooling purposes. When we perform combat, linen can still become very warm, even with it being such a breathable fabric.
A fun little hidden part of this costume is in the lining. While it is lined completely, I did not have enough of the blue to line the chest part. So I went digging through my fabric stash and found the perfect fabric. The torso of the tunic is lined in some adorable porg fabrics.
