The Queen of Ktath'atn

from Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel

The Queen of Ktath'atn is a Force-sensitive and sentient abersyn symbiote. One day of each year, she would open her citadel's doors to see visitors and grant favors in exchange for receiving the galaxy's most interesting oddities, which she feasted upon the life energy of, along with those of her sleeping subjects on the planet.

This costume was actually suggested to me by a friend of mine. After picking up the comic, I fell in love with the idea of a force vampire. She is creepy and unique. Not to mention, she is able to control Han Solo and turn him into the general of her army. While an obscure Star Wars lady, she is by far one of the coolest.

How It Was Made

This character was introduced to me by a friend who suggested that I read the comic she was featured in. Jokingly they said I would probably want to make the costume. They know me very well. Queen as a character is like a force vampire. She lures people into her lair with the promise of life changing favors, only to pull the energy from their bodies and forcing them into her service. She is elegant, mysterious, and overall just a stunning design.

The top is an all-way stretch material with her high collar having an inlay of red stretch vinyl. The corset and sleeves were also made from the same red stretch vinyl, with pleated panels throughout of the same fabrics. The corset is four layers with 16 pieces of spiral steel boning for structure. The red collar on the neck is constructed like a small scale corset neckpiece. There are small boning channels with steel boning throughout for structure to help keep the look and zippers closed in the back, which is hidden by the outer collar. The skirting was a 4 foot train of red satin with a shorter black satin overlay. This allowed for a very elegant drape to the back as well as a contrast to the vinyls and spandex. Her pieces for the side and front were made from a heavier vinyl, acting more like armor to accent her hips.

The crown is made from a craft foam base with a custom pattern I created from scratch. I gave them a slightly rough texture to make them appear like stone spikes painted black. The wig was done with a red base with two pigtail clips that I clipped up within themselves to create her strange bun hair look. The makeup is a mixture of Mehron Grey and White body paint, bended in three layers, with a light gray contour to the jawline and cheekbones.
